Sturgis Iron & Metal is proud of its contribution to America’s recycling efforts. Recycling by Sturgis Iron & Metal contributes significantly to protecting our environment and conserving the world’s natural resources.
Our facilities in Michigan, Indiana and Georgia recycle enormous amounts of scrap metals and other recyclable materials from homes, businesses and manufacturing plants that otherwise might end up overflowing our landfills or littering our landscape. Old refrigerators, freezers and other home appliances, aluminum cans, wire, obsolete metal parts, lawn mowers, automobiles and even buses are chopped, crushed or shredded at our recycling facilities and converted into reusable resources for use in manufacturing, business and industry.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the recycling of scrap metal significantly reduces consumer waste and waste from mining virgin raw materials. Using recycled scrap metal instead of virgin raw material such as iron and coal to make new steel saves energy, reduces water use and significantly reduces air and water pollution.
